The original Davis 4-Ray PlumBob features four radial fins oriented to the cardinal references (3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock)
The Solomon-Davis 3-Ray PlumBob amputates the 90° fin to eliminate upper lid interference (3, 6, and 9 o’clock)
The extended reach holding stem allows easy access to the cornea, yet with freedom of movement of the gravity plumb bob itself
It is important to recognize that the PlumBob itself appears to be a handle, but it is actually the vertical weight
Surgeon holds stem between thumb and forefinger when marking
Can be used without ink; Epithelial marks will last an hour or more (ink is optional but generally unnecessary)

Testimonials
“The removal of the top fin leaves three as opposed to four radial marking elements. This requires little or no effort or manipulation during preoperative marking with regard to the upper eye lid yet provides sufficient centration and alignment references. Mastel markers are so sharp they may be used without ink as an option. Long lasting marks allows sufficient time to premark in the waiting area; good marking technique easily allows application 10-15 minutes prior to surgery.” – Kerry Solomon, MD, Charleston, SC
