Designed for cataract or other paracentesis requirements, the Ahmed Super PentiAhm provides freehand scleral groove applications for glaucoma procedures. This facet design provides the surgeon with depth sighting references of 450 and 550 microns.

Extended Description

These diamonds are designed in conjunction with Doctor Iqbal (Ike) K. Ahmed, specifically for cataract/glaucoma surgeon. Despite five cutting edges, the blade functions as a single-edge design, enabling precise paracentesis without unintended enlargement. Wounds can still be enlarged in either direction by rotating the handle 180°, offering both safety and versatility.

The truncated tip and three leading edges deliver clean basal groove incisions with near–sharp penetration, while improving reentry control. The adjacent side facets form the classic trifacet design, with two different lengths that act as visual depth guides for shallow and deeper grooves.

On the non‑enlargement side, a sharpened enhancement edge creates a clean entry by trimming the wound during a stab. When oriented toward the globe, the safety‑beveled side enables controlled vertical dissection for deep flaps near Descemet’s membrane, acting as a steady rest without cutting. This allows surgeons to gently deepen the wound to identify structural planes in challenging cases.
